Your first year is designed to build a strong foundation for your future career or continued education. The curriculum includes:
Freshman Seminar: This course helps you acclimate to university life and the academic rigor of our program.
Introduction to Interior Architecture: You'll be introduced to the core principles and practices of the field.
Introduction to Architecture Design & Graphics: Explore the principles and elements of design with hands on exercises and emphasis on form and space.
History of Art I: This course provides a vital historical and theoretical context for your design studies.
General Education Requirements: We'll guide you through the necessary general education courses to support your future goals, whether that's launching your career or pursuing a graduate degree.
Your first year in Interior Architecture and Design is a journey of discovery. You'll dive into the diverse professions within the field and explore different areas of interest. You'll also meet the other students who will be with you on this four-year path to graduation—your cohort.
By the end of your first year, you'll have a clearer understanding of the areas you'd like to specialize in. You'll then declare your minor, allowing you to tailor your schedule for the remaining six semesters and shape your unique academic journey.

Architecture & Design Foundations Studio: This course begins the hands on practice of architectural design with the built environment. Sketchup/AutoCAD/Lumion
History of Art II: This course provides a vital historical and theoretical context for your design studies.
General Education Requirements: We'll guide you through the necessary general education courses to support your future goals, whether that's launching your career or pursuing a graduate degree.
As you are working towards completing your first year in the program, you will decide on which minor or an area of focus you will pursue to meet the requirement for the GEF 8.
You will have items to begin planning your portfolio of work. From the fall courses, you have an abstract built model, Case studies on topics covering Architectural Theories to Universal Principles. Wrapping up the year you will have your first interior design project.
Now is the time to establish a system to manage your completed work. For the technology, you will want your personal drives.
The general education courses are online and may also offer a face to face lecture class.
You need to earn a "C" or better in these courses to graduate.
